Naturopathy, also known as natural medicine, is practiced in many countries today. Many people believe in using all natural products for self healing, such as herbs. Natural medicine relies on the body's given ability to maintain and heal itself.
Herbal medicine is beneficial, and natural herbs can treat colds and help clear up any viruses. A tension headache can be relieved with a cup of chamomile tea instead of aspirin. Some also say that people with mild depression can take St. John’s Wort, Ginseng, and Skullcap instead of the plethora of antidepressants with their wide array of side-effects.
There are many natural products used today for medicine. For example, the potent, hot fruit of cayenne pepper has been used for centuries to lose weight and for cluster headache relief. Cloves can be used as a toothache pain reliever. The juice from an onion can be used to soothe the pain from minor burns. Honey has been linked to multiple home treatments including sore throats, as well as speeding up the healing of minor cuts and abrasions.
Yoga is a another example of a great natural medicine. More than 50% of North Americans have used other, alternative health services in the past year, not including the chiropractic. There is a growing trend for most health care providers to work with qualified yoga therapists and complementary medicine practitioners. Long before the pharmaceutical companies and their pills with dangerous side effects, Mother Nature was the number one answer for the healing. Today, people still stick by the idea of natural healing.
