There is no gluten in Sweet Wheat. Gluten is only formed in the actual wheat grain (seed). Sweet Wheat is harvested and cut before the wheatgrass develops a seed head. If you are allergic to wheat, you are also allergic to gluten, but not to the properties of wheatgrass. Are there any side effects to taking Sweet Wheat®? Consuming Sweet Wheat® is similar to eating green vegetables. Live enzymes, chlorophyll, vitamins, and minerals can produce a cleansing or detoxifying effect. The nutrients in green vegetables can release toxins that have been stored in blood and fat cells. If you don’t drink at least half your body weight in ounces of pure water daily, these toxins reabsorb into your system and make you feel uncomfortable. For adult basic daily health you should take one level teaspoon or two capsules at least once a day. If you have an illness you may need to take more. We recommend increasing the dose by one serving each week until you experience an improvement in your condition. If in doubt about the exact amount you should use, consult with your health practitioner. Children 0-4 generally use 1/4 to 1/2 a capsule daily or 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon—Children 4-14 can double that amount. One teaspoon of Sweet Wheat® is roughly equivalent to one to two ounces of fresh wheatgrass juice. One ounce of wheatgrass juice equals the nutritional equivalent of 1.5 pounds of organic vegetables. Dr. Ann Wigmore, founder of the Hippocrates Health Institute, stated that one pound of fresh wheatgrass is equivalent to 25 pounds of fresh vegetables in terms of nutritional value. When is the best time to take Sweet Wheat®? We recommend taking 1/2 teaspoon or 1 capsule on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and wait 20 minutes before eating, and 20 minutes before your mid-afternoon slump. Some take Sweet Wheat at night because it helps them get a restful night's sleep. Many increase their intake of Sweet Wheat® when they feel they are coming down with something because it helps strengthen their immune system. How long does it take to get results? Some people notice an energy boost within 20 minutes, but this varies from person to person. It commonly takes 3 days to 2 weeks of regular use, depending on the severity of your condition, to see observable results. Is there a difference between the powder and the capsules? They are the same Sweet Wheat® in different forms. If you like the taste of spinach you might prefer the powder. The veggie-based capsules take up to 20 minutes to break down. The powder is absorbed more immediately. What if I don't like the taste of wheatgrass juice but want the benefits? You can take Sweet Wheat in capsule form or blend a half-teaspoon of Sweet Wheat® wheatgrass juice powder with juice (pure carrot apple or grape). Other vegetable extracts – beet, celery and parsley – also mix well with wheatgrass juice. Some enjoy sprinkling Sweet Wheat on their fresh green salads. You can prepare your cold meals with Sweet Wheat® but remember, heat will diminish its potency. Can I replace my multi-vitamin with Sweet Wheat®? Wheatgrass draws all the vitamins, minerals, and live enzymes from the soil into the plant. Juicing the wheatgrass releases these in a form that’s very easy for your body to assimilate. Some have used Sweet Wheat® exclusively feeling little need for other vitamins. But as with any other supplement it is always a good idea to consult your healthcare provider before making a major change. Where did the idea of juicing wheatgrass come from? Agricultural chemist, Charles F. Schanabel, experimented with a heat-dried wheatgrass powder in 1930, in an effort to save dying chickens, Not only did they recover, they produced more eggs than chickens who had never been ill.
